After Russell Wilson left Thursday night's game for the Seattle Seahawks with a brutal looking finger injury, most assumed it was a wrap. Instead, Geno Smith came in, led the Seahawks on a touchdown drive and nearly led Seattle back to a win.

While there are no moral victories, Smith looked sharp filling in for Wilson and he has a message for Seahawks fan as a result.

Smith went 10/17 for 131 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The interception came late with two minutes left as Tyler Lockett fell down running his route. It put the game on ice for the Los Angeles Rams.

It's possible, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, that Wilson's injury could require surgery, meaning Smith could be QB1 for the Seahawks for quite awhile if it does indeed go that route.

After an impressive road win against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4, this loss in Week 5 dropped the Seahawks to 2-3 overall on the season.

If they have to turn to Smith, it appears they'll have someone who can still make plenty of plays and with Lockett and DK Metcalf to throw the ball to, it's possible the Seahawks could tkeep things afloat with Smith at quarterback why they would wait for Wilson to return to action.

Either way it was an intense, unexpected, high pressure spot that Smith was put into and he flourished in the role for Seattle. If he is the guy moving forward for a bit he sounds more than confident.
