A couple of the Seattle Seahawks' best defensive players were not on the practice field on Thursday, as defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney and linebacker Bobby Wagner were both absent, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

Clowney has been dealing with a core muscle injury he suffered during the Seahawks' Week 10 win over the San Francisco 49ers and has missed a couple of games since, including last week's victory over the Carolina Panthers.

The pass rusher will eventually need to undergo surgery to repair the issue, but he has decided to push surgery back to the offseason so he can play out the rest of the year.

It should also be noted that Clowney was battling the flu last week, which certainly contributed to his absence against the Panthers.

In the 12 games he has played this season, Clowney has logged 30 tackles, three sacks, an interception, four forced fumbles, a couple of fumble recoveries and a pair of defensive touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Wagner is nursing an ankle injury he sustained last Sunday against Carolina.

Wagner is expected to play this weekend versus the Arizona Cardinals, but the fact that he did not practice on Thursday clearly indicates that he is not 100 percent, so his status is certainly worth keeping an eye on moving forward.

The 29-year-old has been named to his sixth straight Pro Bowl, as he has racked up 139 tackles, two sacks, a pick, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and six passes defended over his first 14 games.

Seattle is 11-3 and sits in first place in the NFC West.
