Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is listed as doubtful for his team's game against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, the team announced on Friday.

Clowney is dealing with a core muscle injury he initially suffered during Seattle's win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 11.

He has missed two games since then, including the Seahawks' Week 15 victory over the Carolina Panthers. However, his absence last weekend was also due to the flu.

Clowney did not practice on Thursday.

More information will become available from head coach Pete Carroll after Friday's practice.

In the 12 games he has played this season, Clowney has logged 30 tackles, three sacks, an interception, four forced fumbles, a couple of fumble recoveries and a pair of defensive touchdowns.

The Seahawks acquired the pass rusher in a trade with the Houston Texans just before the season started, sending outside linebackers Jacob Martin and Barkevious Mingo and a third-round pick to Texas.

Clowney, who played his collegiate football at the University of South Carolina, was originally selected by the Texans with the first overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft.

His first two NFL seasons were disappointing, as injuries limited Clowney to just four games during his rookie campaign, and in 2015, he finished with just 40 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

However, Clowney finally broke out in 2016, making his first of three straight Pro Bowl appearances. His best season to date came in 2017, when he racked up 59 tackles, 9.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and a defensive score.

Seattle is 11-3 on the year and sits in first place in the NFC West.
