The Seattle Seahawks will have a key player on defense coming into their divisional round clash against the Green Bay Packers. Jadeveon Clowney has been cleared to play.

The news should be a huge relief to Seahawks fans who were worried that one of their best defenders wouldn't be able to pressure Aaron Rodgers. His core muscle injury seems to be holding up better than expected, and that should allow him to play at — or close to — the best of his abilities against the Packers.

Head coach Pete Carroll revealed that Jadeveon Clowney should be able to play through the injury and contribute against the Packers.

Per Pro Football Talk's Curtis Crabtree:

“So far he’s OK it sounds like,” Carroll said. “The report I just got is that he’s playing this week. He’ll be alright to make it. We’ll have to manage him throughout the week.”

Jadeveon Clowney was a solid contributor to the Seahawks' defense during their win over the Eagles. He finished the game with five tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack. Unfortunately, his lone QB hit injured Eagles QB Carson Wentz, dooming the Eagles to a loss.

Wentz was understandably upset with his injury, and fans are incensed at the hard hit. However, Jadeveon Clowney had a different view.

“I was just playing fast, and he turned like he was running the ball, so I was trying to get him down,” Clowney said, via Complex. “It was a bang-bang play. I don't intend to hurt anybody in this league, let me just put that out there. I've been down the injury road; it's not fun…  I thought it was just a small hit, but everybody was going crazy on the sidelines. I was just trying to finish the play, but it happened.”

Seahawks fans hope to see the same level of persistence from Jadeveon Clowney when Seattle faces the Packers.
