The Seattle Seahawks lost their Week 2 matchup against the Tennessee Titans in absolutely brutal fashion.

Strong safety Jamal Adams didn't mince words on what caused their downfall.

“We beat ourself,” said the Seahawks star.

One particular play was against Adams himself. The Seahawks were penalized after a the play for Adams' late hit on Titans QB Ryan Tannehill.

“Bang-bang situation,” Adams continued. “I don't agree with it but at the end of the day, they called it. Can't have it. We can't have those penalties. At the end of the day, we have a job to do. And we have to have controlled chaos and an even-keeled mindset. We can't have those penalties in crucial situations.”

The Titans were down 9-24 at halftime and even trailed by two touchdowns early in the fourth quarter with the game seemingly out of hand. The self-inflicted wounds piled up just enough to open the door for a Seahawks letdown. When a game goes to overtime off a last-minute touchdown to tie the game, every little transgression matters.

“Some were ticky-tack, just like D.J. Reed and the taunting penalty? C'mon man. You are taking the emotion and the passion out of the game of football. At the end of the day, that's the rule and we have to play smarter. We definitely shot ourselves in the foot.”

The Seahawks could have easily gone up 2-0 had they held firm in the fourth quarter. Instead, they'll have to live with the bitter taste in their mouths until Week 3.
