A Jamal Adams hit on QB John Wolford produced a scary moment during the Wild Card round matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks on Saturday.

With 5:40 to play in the first quarter, Wolford found himself on the wrong end of Adams' helmet at the end of a short scramble. The Rams quarterback was transported from Lumen Field to a local hospital via ambulance after suffering an apparent neck injury.

The hard-hitting safety had no malintent from the tackle, and Adams confirmed that Wolford understood that.

In his postgame remarks after Seattle's 30-20 victory over Los Angeles, Adams recounted what Wolford told him prior to being carried off the field.

Wolford was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Fortunately, he was released shortly after being examined.

“I think it was really just a stinger,” Rams head coach McVay said, via ESPN's Lindsey Thiry. “He definitely seemed good.”

Wolford was making his second career start, in the wake of QB Jared Goff's broken thumb.

After Wolford left the game, Goff — the emergency QB, as Blake Bortles was inactive — subbed in to help lead the Rams to a road playoff victory in Seattle. Wolford completed three of six passes before leaving the game. Goff completed nine of 19 passes for 155 yards and a touchdown.

According to ESPN, Wolford was able to return to the Rams' locker room in time to celebrate the victory over Seattle with his teammates.

After upsetting the Seahawks, the Rams will face the winner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Washington Football Team matchup. At the moment, it remains unclear who will start under center for L.A. in the divisional round.
