The Seattle Seahawks acquired wide receiver Josh Gordon off waivers this past Friday, but Gordon understandably did not play in the Seahawks' overtime win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
However, Gordon passed his physical and will practice this week with the hope of suiting up for Seattle's Week 10 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers next Monday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Gordon began the season with the New England Patriots, playing in the first six games before a knee injury sidelined him for Week 7. The Patriots then placed him on the injured reserve list, a puzzling move considering Gordon's knee issue was not thought to be that severe.
It was then revealed that New England planned on releasing Gordon, and last Thursday, it waived him.
The Pats were apparently not happy with Gordon's work ethic, as the wideout reportedly had shown up late to some team meetings and was also difficult for coaches to locate on the season.
The fact that Gordon was not that productive certainly didn't help his case, either, as he logged just 20 catches for 287 yards and a touchdown during his time with the Patriots this season.
Gordon first arrived in Foxborough in September 2018 after coming over in a trade with the Cleveland Browns. He ended up playing in 11 games for New England last season before announcing in December that he was stepping away from football to focus on his mental health.
The 28-year-old was then hit with an indefinite suspension for violating the NFL's drug policy.
Gordon entered the NFL with the Browns in 2012 and had two terrific seasons to start his career, but between 2014 and 2017, he was limited to just 10 contests due to a litany of drug-related bans.
