It goes without saying that the Seattle Seahawks were one of the most injury-riddled teams in the 2017 NFL season. Among their notable key losses was that of safety Kam Chancellor due to a neck injury.

Although it is reported to be quite severe, Chancellor has every intention of making his return to the field. According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, he will undergo his next scan within the next few months which should give the team a better idea of his timetable:

The team has said several times that Chancellor continues to get scans taken on his neck to assess his health and if he has a chance to return to action and Schneider said on Thursday that the next scan will come in “late June, early July.’’

Chancellor sustained the neck injury in Week 10 of the 2017 campaign against the Arizona Cardinals. His season was cut short after he was placed on injured reserve the following month.

The Seahawks have since undergone some major changes to the roster that has officially left the “Legion of Boom” in complete shambles. With cornerback Richard Sherman gone and looming uncertainty about safety Earl Thomas' future in Seattle, Chancellor may be the only member left in the near future after signing a three-year extension last offseason.

When healthy, he is one of the best safeties in the NFL. He was even named as a Pro Bowl alternate despite only appearing in nine games last season. However, it is clear that Seattle will be taking every precaution they can with Chancellor's return given their lack of stability on the roster with the recent overhaul.
