The Seattle Seahawks came into the 2019 NFL Draft with just four draft picks, but managed to end the draft with 11 selections, thanks in part to a variety of trades made, including the trade of Frank Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs. According to Seahawks defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr., this draft is one of the best the Seahawks have ever had.

Speaking to 710 ESPN Seattle, Norton discussed the recently completed rookie minicamp for the Seahawks, and how he was impressed by what he saw all of the young players doing on the field.

“They came in with a certain mindset, that they wanted to learn and get better and improve,” Norton told 710 ESPN Seattle’s John Clayton. “And I think they did that. From day one, they came in and I gave them some tasks and some goals and asked them some questions, and they were able to answer them with their play, with their ability to come together as a group and take it out on the field. And I think every single day they got better.”

Norton went on to say that the group of young players at the minicamp was one of the “best groups” that they’ve had in Seattle in a long time. Six of the 11 draft picks that the Seahawks made were on defensive players, so it’s a pretty great sign for the team that their defensive coordinator already likes them.

After the minicamp, the Seahawks will soon be looking forward to getting on the field during training camp, where the team can truly see how their drafted players stack up against the veterans on the team. If the rookies continue to show the type of promise that Norton thinks they have, then the Seahawks might be ready to continue contending in the NFC.
