New Seattle Seahawks running back Carlos Hyde underwent shoulder surgery in February to repair a torn labrum according to NFL reporter Michael Silver. Hyde played through the injury in 2019, finding a whole lot of success in the (painful) process..

Hyde ran for 1,070 yards and six touchdowns on 245 carries for the Houston Texans. Even after the career year, the Texans decided to move in a different direction, bringing in David Johnson in a trade that sent the Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

The Seahawks love to run the ball, and with both of their stars from last year coming off season-ending surgeries, they have been looking all off-season for depth. Rashaad Penny tore his ACL in 2019, and there is some concern that he will have to start the 2020 season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Chris Carson is recovering from a hip injury, but the expectation is he will be ready for the start of the 2020 year.

The Seahawks also have Travis Homer, who will be entering his second year in the league. There is also fourth-round pick DeeJay Dallas and undrafted free agents Patrick Carr and Anthony Jones currently on the roster.

With the rest of the roster being so young, it makes sense the team would want a veteran in the mix, especially if Penny is going to miss some time to start the year.

The team tried to come to an agreement on a deal with free-agent Devonta Freeman but the two sides couldn't make it work, so they moved on and brought in Hyde. If Hyde can stay healthy, he should be an impact player for the Seahawks.
