The Seattle Seahawks received two talented young players in return as part of the blockbuster trade of Russell Wilson. Tight end Noah Fant and quarterback Drew Lock arrived in Seattle from Denver. While Fant is a rising star at his position, Lock has struggled to make good on the potential that made him a second-round pick back in 2019. With the Seahawks announcing that they're “still in the quarterback business“, it would seem that they're not entirely convinced that Lock is anything more than a backup. Fant, who is very familiar with Lock, declared him to be a ‘franchise guy' in a bold statement, as reported by Pro Football Talk.

“Drew’s biggest attribute is his arm. He’s made some insane throw in the time that we’ve played together. He has all the talent in the world. . . . I think he has all the opportunity and all the talent in the world to get it done and be that franchise guy,” Fant said, via Curtis Crabtree of KCPQ.

Fant didn't hold back, saying that Lock has “all the talent in the world” and can be a “franchise guy.” The Missouri product has struggled to make an impact in three seasons, with his best season coming in 2020, where he completed 57.3 percent of his passes while throwing for 16 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

The Broncos clearly didn't see a ‘franchise guy' in Lock, which is why they were willing to mortgage their future for Wilson. Perhaps a change of scenery in Seattle with the always-positive Pete Carroll will do wonders for Lock's game?

Time will tell. However, the fourth-year pro can rest assured that he has the backing of his teammates, like Fant. The question is, does he have the backing of the franchise?
