Since the end of the 2017 NFL season, the Seattle Seahawks have yet to find any clarity in their ongoing situation with All-Pro safety Earl Thomas, who is in the final year of his four-year, $40 million deal. This has led to Thomas deciding to stay away from any team activities in the process until his future with the team is sorted out.

Much of this is centered on his current contract with eyes toward landing a new long-term extension to remain with the Seahawks for the next several years. However, ESPN is reporting that there is no progress being made toward working out a new deal for the 29-year-old at this point.

This has only further clouded his standing with Seattle that his time with the franchise may be nearing an end sooner than expected. Thomas has had his name tossed around in trade rumors with the Dallas Cowboys, but things have significantly cooled off on that front since the 2018 NFL Draft.

It could all pick back up again over the next few weeks prior to training camp that begins in mid-July. This is a time frame where the Seahawks can discuss what direction the franchise is hoping to head with the Pro Bowler beyond just this upcoming season.

There may be no talks at the moment; there should be some conversation that will pick up in the coming weeks that may finally give clarity to the entire situation.
