Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is entering the final year of his deal and wants a new contract by April 15 in order to avoid the potential media circus that would come with him heading into the season unsigned.

The Seahawks and Wilson have reportedly engaged in contract discussions, and oddsmakers like the chances of the two sides agreeing to a new deal by Wilson's deadline, per BetOnline.ag.

Wilson is coming off of arguably the best season of his career, as he threw for 3,448 yards, 35 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 65.6 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 110.9 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Wisconsin and North Carolina State, was originally selected by the Seahawks in the third round (75th pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He was immediately named Seattle's starting quarterback heading into his rookie campaign and was impressive, throwing for 3,118 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 10 picks while completing 64.1 percent of his passes and recording a passer rating of 100, making the Pro Bowl as a result.

Then, the following year, Wilson made another Pro Bowl after leading the Seahawks to a Super Bowl title, and in 2014, he took Seattle to another Super Bowl appearance.

Overall, the Cincinnati native has earned five Pro Bowl selections throughout his seven-year NFL tenure.

The Seahawks won 10 games this past season, earning a Wild Card berth in the NFC. They then proceeded to fall to the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.
