The Seattle Seahawks notably selected former Ole Miss Rebels wide receiver D.K. Metcalf in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft despite many originally believing that the up-and-coming pass catcher is a first round talent.

With Metcalf now officially on board in Seattle, it appears as though Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is just a little bit excited to have added the soon-to-be rookie wideout to his arsenal of weapons in Seattle.

“Well, it’s almost like, what doesn’t, you know?” Carroll recently told reporters when asked about what excited him about Metcalf, via USA TODAY Sports. “I mean, he’s big and he’s fast. He’s got really good feet, you know, and his catching range was exhibited today for a start. And you know, we’ve got to figure it out, figure out where it is, maybe even more unique than we thought coming in. So we just develop it as we go. But big and really fast and the catching range was really obvious today.”

Metcalf could certainly become an impactful player for Carroll and the Seahawks right off the bat as Seattle may be without fellow wide receiver Doug Baldwin, who is reportedly contemplating retirement due to injury.

“He’s been coached up well, he had a tremendous offseason working with Jerry Sullivan, one of the great receiver coaches in the history of the NFL,” Carroll added. “And I’m not taking anything away from where he was. I just know what we’re seeing right now. We’re seeing the guy work really hard at it, getting down and getting in and out of his breaks and stuff. Yeah, he looks like he’s ready to compete.”

Of course, the always dangerous Seahawks will be forced to compete alongside the surging Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West come 2019-20.
