Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson, the team's leading rusher in each of the past three seasons, was placed on the injured reserve two weeks ago with a neck injury. According to ProFootballTalk's Charean Williams, Seattle head coach Pete Carroll said that he does not have a timetable for his return. He also floated the idea that Carson may not play again this season.

“He’s got to make a turn here to show us that he’s feeling better and good enough to really go for it,” coach Pete Carroll said Friday, via Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio KJR and PFT. “He hasn’t been able to come out to practice yet and go. Pretty soon, you’re going to say, ‘Is he going to make it back?’ and I’m not ready to do that yet. But really keeping my fingers crossed for him that he gets to come back and play.”

“No updates about him coming back any time that we can predict it at this moment,” Carroll said. “So we’ve just got to wait it out.”

Carson ran for 232 yards and three touchdowns in the four games of the season. He has a pair of 1000-yard rushing titles to his name and has recorded over 260 receiving yards each of the past two seasons.

The Seahawks' current running back depth chart consists mainly of Alex Collins and Rashaad Penny. Especially with star quarterback Russell Wilson also on the IR with a finger injury, Seattle's season looks to be in serious jeopardy. They carry a 2-5 record into their Week 8 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
