Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is hopeful that safety Bradley McDougald will be back for his team's Week 8 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons next Sunday, per Liz Mathews of Seahawks Wire.

“We think so. We think so,” Carroll said when asked if he thins McDougald could return next week. “We’re very positive about the thought. He wasn’t quite able, today. But, he still has to do it. He still has to get well. He has back spasms, you know, and that didn’t really release the way that sometimes they do. So, maybe over the weekend he will make a comeback for us.”

McDougald missed the Seahawks' 30-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens this past Sunday due to the aforementioned back spasms. He started the first six games of the season for Seattle, logging 25 tackles, an interception, and a forced fumble.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Kansas, went undrafted back in 2013 but eventually signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as a free agent. He played in just one game with the Chiefs in 2013 before being waived and signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he appeared in three contests that season.

McDougald then participated in 15 games for the Buccaneers in 2014, registering 50 tackles and a pick. He remained with Tampa Bay through 2016 before linking up with the Seahawks in 2017, where he played in every game and finished with 67 tackles.

Last year, McDougald started all 16 contests and totaled 78 tackles, three interceptions, and three forced fumbles.

Seattle dropped to 5-2 with the loss to the Ravens.
