The Seattle Seahawks are pretty banged up at the moment, but head coach Pete Carroll isn't sweating it. In particular, the receiving corps has suffered a rash of untimely injuries.

Rookie second-round pick D.K. Metcalf missed a little bit of time with an oblique injury, and then had to have a knee scope. His status for Week 1 is highly questionable, and then projected third receiver David Moore suffered a shoulder injury that will knock him out for the first chunk of the season.

“For the most part, we have a couple spots that got banged up pretty good,” Carroll said Tuesday, via Liz Mathews of the Seahawks Wire. “The O-line got hammered pretty good and just recently, the receivers. Other than that, we’ve been pretty strong throughout. Everybody’s had a chance to show themselves.”

Carroll doesn't seem too worried, but he also has a reputation for being overly optimistic about injuries, so it's tough to gauge for sure. Carroll also talked about how nagging injuries are even tougher for inexperienced players who need more time learning the system.

“It’s really hard on the draft pick guys, they get banged up and they miss weeks and weeks and some guys miss some weeks of the offseason and they come back,” he explained. “At least, we’ve had enough indications of our guys to know to know where we think they fit. For their effort to try to make a playing spot, for them, it’s a challenge.”

Seattle is also banged up on defense. Rookie first-round pick L.J. Collier is still sidelined by his ankle injury, and fellow pass-rusher Ezekiel Ansah just practiced for the first time all offseason on Tuesday. Russell Wilson might have to completely carry the team during the early part of the season.
