Earlier this week the Seattle Seahawks decided to release Brandon Marshall but coach Pete Carroll did leave the door open that the veteran wide receiver could return. Carroll praised Marshall for being a veteran and pointed out that he did a lot of things for the team that no one ever saw.

“He was a great pro for us,” Carroll told reporters via Pro Football Talk. “He’s in terrific shape for this stage of his career and he can still play. It happened that we looked at the roster, we looked at the way we’re running the football, we needed a little bit more help across the board with [special] teams and some stuff that would help us in general. There’s just not enough throws to get it to him, but he can play and in the event where something came down and we had a chance, we’d love to have him back. We just had to do something right now and it’s unfortunate.”

Marshall played six games with the Seahawks this year catching 11 balls for 136 yards and a touchdown.

It's unclear if there are other teams interested in his services but with Marshall never playing in a playoff game, chances are he would like to sign with a contender. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, Marshall “absolutely” wants to keep playing despite his release from the Seahawks.

But if this is the end of the road for Marshall it was quite the career. He has played in 178 games racking up 12,351 yards and 83 touchdowns.
