The Seattle Seahawks still have yet to meet with free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick after suddenly postponing their scheduled meeting with him last week. Conflicting reports have come out regarding the Seahawks’ reason for doing so. And in the time since, they’ve signed two quarterbacks in Stephen Morris and Austin Davis.

But despite those signings and the lack of a newly scheduled meet-up, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll says the door remains very much open for Kap to come over to Seattle.

“We are trying to figure it out … The discussion and the opportunity is still open,” Carroll said on KJR, via Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune.

Carroll added that he hasn’t spoken to Kaepernick about the whole situation. He also said he’s “not going there” with regard to Kap’s anthem protests.

The saga involving Kaepernick and his supposed blackballing by the league rages on with no end in sight, especially with his collusion case against the league still ongoing.

It’s at least promising that Carroll hasn’t completely shut the door on Kaepernick. The Seahawks have been the only team to date that’s shown any interest in the veteran quarterback, who might actually be able to help the Seahawks. He’s clearly a superior quarterback to Morris or Davis, and Seattle still has a pressing need for a backup behind Russell Wilson.

But given the way the league has acted toward Kaepernick, it’s probably not a good idea to expect that he’ll be signing with the Seahawks – or any team for that matter – anytime soon.
