Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Josh Gordon was issued an indefinite suspension by the NFL on Monday for violating the league's performance enhancement policy. While the 28-year-old wideout only appeared in five games with the NFC West franchise after the New England Patriots placed him on waivers earlier this season, his head coach Pete Carroll had strong words of support for the suspended Pro-Bowler.

Per Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio KJR via ProFootballTalk:

“Our heart goes out to Josh having to face this again,” Carroll said Monday. “The fact that he’s up against it and all poses a great challenge to him. Fortunately he’ll have the benefit of all of the league’s resources to support him and to help him. We’ll wish him the very best in taking care of business. It’s very unfortunate.

“We saw Josh really at a really high level the whole time he was here. The work ethic he brought was one, but his getting along with people and being good to work with and to talk to and all of that and to deal with on a regular basis, really he was great. We were not aware that there was anything to be concerned about other than the history, which we knew about.”

Gordon has been suspended for various drug abuses by the NFL in his brief, six-year professional tenure, having several seasons eliminated for his stint with the Cleveland Browns career and now in 2019, which was split between the Seahawks and Patriots. The former second-round Supplemental Draft pick out of Baylor and Utah missed the 2015-16 seasons and had his 2014 season cut short due to suspensions.

Gordon recorded seven receptions for 139 yards in his extremely short Seahawks tenure.
