Seattle Seahawks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is set to become one o the most high-profile free agents on the market this offseason. To no surprise, it appears the Seahawks will be among the drama hoping to acquire his services for the long haul.

According to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times, head coach Pete Carroll says Seattle is looking to re-sign Clowney:

“We’re going to try. We’re trying to get it done. He had a fantastic season. We’d love to have him back.”

Carroll's comments should hardly come as any surprise. After all, the Seahawks had made a splash with the acquisition of Clowney last offseason in exchange for linebacker Jacob Martin, defensive end Barkevious Mingo, and a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Clowney enjoyed modest production in the 2019 campaign after finishing with 31 tackles and 3.0 sacks. Regardless, he still flashed his skill set as a playmaker with four forced fumbles and an interception that he returned for a touchdown en route to being named to his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl as an alternate this time.

Clowney made it clear following Seattle's disappointing playoff loss that he would be looking to join a contender this offseason. Although the Seahawks managed to lead quite the resurgence with an 11-5 record, it remains to be seen if the two-time All-Pro considers them to be a championship-caliber team. Meanwhile, this team has a number of other voids to fill on the roster so it will be interesting to see just how high of a price tag they are willing to pay.
