Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson looked undoubtedly flustered during the team's 24-17 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 2. Head coach Pete Carroll feels he may have an idea why.

It is no secret that Seattle has experienced some trouble getting their offense started. Carroll said during an appearance on the Brock and Salk Show that he feels Wilson is trying too hard, via Mike Vorel of the Seattle Times:

“I’m finding Russ over-trying a little bit,” Carroll said. “He’s pressing in difficult situations to try and see if he can come up with a way to make something happen instead of just getting rid of the football.”

If it seems like Wilson is pressing the issue too much, it is because he is forced to. There are a number of reasons why he has struggled thus far. They have virtually no run game behind their makeshift offensive line. Meanwhile, the absence of wide receiver Doug Baldwin has left Wilson without his favorite target in the passing game. This has resulted in him being sacked more times than any other quarterback in the league.

Carroll indicates that one of Wilson's problems has been holding onto the ball for too long. While it is always ideal for the quarterback to get a pass off as soon as possible, he is as good as it gets when it comes to extending the play.

Unfortunately, the Seahawks have not gotten the same results this time around. That said, Carroll will need to find a way to patch things up before this season goes down the drain.
