Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson struggled in the first half and missed some big throws, and that meant Pete Carroll pulled out the story about NBA legend Rick Barry to motivate him.

In the first half, Wilson missed a wide-open Doug Baldwin that would have resulted in an easy touchdown.

“Rick Barry, one of the greatest shooters of all time, [Carroll] said he saw him when he was coaching with the 49ers, and Rick Barry said that if he’s missing some, then watch out,” Wilson said via Pro Football Talk. “I just believe that, I know what I’m capable of. Great things can happen. We have great receivers, guys that can make plays. I missed a couple here and there, but we stayed the course and had a great night.”

One of Wilson's best throws of the night was a dart to tight end Ed Dickson on a third-and-nine from the Green Bay Packers 15-yard line. The throw took him into the end zone and put the Seahawks ahead, a lead they wouldn't ever give back up. The win moves the Seahawks to 5-5 and keeps their hopes for a playoff birth alive. Just a few months ago this felt like a bit of a rebuild and that this might be a down year.

Now the team looks like one with a strong finish could sneak into the playoffs as a wild-card team. With Russell Wilson in the playoffs anything could happen, so all this team needs is to get in for a chance.
