The Seattle Seahawks have been relatively quiet since the start of free agency. However, they were able to shore up some quality depth in the receiving corps after signing former New England Patriots wide receiver Phillip Dorsett.

According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, Dorsett revealed some of the factors that led to is decision to sign with Seattle:

“Seattle felt like the best opportunity to be the player I know I can be as a WR. I spoke to Russell Wilson on face time while he was working out. Shows you his work ethic. That got me extra excited. I think overall it's just the right fit for me.”

Dorsett's comments are certainly understandable given the appeal of having a quarterback of
Russell Wilson's caliber throwing the ball. After all, he has become accustomed to high-level play under center after spending the last three seasons catching passes from quarterback Tom Brady in New England.

Dorsett came into the league asa a first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. He was part of the trade that landed quarterback Jacoby Brissett in Indianapolis. Unfortunately, he has largely struggled to find his footing in the passing game for the Patriots and wound up finishing the 2019 NFL season with 29 catches for 397 yards and five touchdowns.

Regardless, it is clear that Dorsett is optimistic that the change of scenery will help him realize his potential as a former first-rounder. He will have a chance to potentially serve as the No. 3 option for Wilson behind wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett in the 2020 NFL season.
