Current NFL quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks Russell Wilson will be joining the New York Yankees training camp, per his agent, Mark Rhodes, and via Jon Morosi of the MLB Network.

Wilson has been attending spring training for a number of years now and was playing minor league baseball before he even became a Super Bowl-winning quarterback. As a high schooler, he was drafted in the 41st round by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2007 MLB Draft. He ended up being a two-sport athlete in college and was drafted in the fourth round of the 2010 draft by the Colorado Rockies.

He played two years of Single-A ball and did not perform very well, hitting only .229.

Since then, he's been a part of the Rockies, Texas Rangers and Yankees spring training camps for morale purposes, as he hasn't played much at all in any game.

When asked by reporters about his desire to play for the Yankees, Wilson seemed very excited by the prospect.

“I’ve been able to experience it, obviously, but to be around a team that’s won 27 world championships and just hear and try to speak that language…I haven’t thought about it, to be honest with you. I’m sure I will think about it at some point, I’m still thinking about football right now.”

Wilson said in a statement released early last year.

“While football is my passion and my livelihood, baseball remains a huge part of where I came from and who I am today. I've learned so much on the baseball field that translates to my game physically and mentally playing quarterback in the NFL.

It will be very interesting to see if Wilson gets to play in a game this spring for the team.
