Veteran cornerback Quinton Dunbar was traded from the Washington Redskins to the Seattle Seahawks earlier this offseason. Despite being forced to switch teams in addition to making his way all the way across the country in the process, Dunbar is definitely joining a franchise that is ready to win now as opposed to one that is currently in the midst of a full-on rebuild.

Additionally, 2019-20 Redskins defensive backs coach Roy Horton is now heaping some serious praise upon Dunbar.

“To me, it would be Richard Sherman,” Horton recently told Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. “Because of the style of play, the hands, the anticipation, the [being a] former wide receiver, the competitiveness. Really, that’s what you are getting is a young Richard Sherman. And this kid is hungry. He wants to be good.”

It is also worth noting that on the Seahawks, Dunbar is now gearing up to play for a team other than a Redskins for the first time in his NFL playing career.

“It was about just, basically, I gave a lot to the Washington organization,’’ Dunbar said, via the aforementioned Condotta. “It was more just a respect factor in that situation with the contract. It didn’t have to be based solely on an extension or anything like that. But no, it’s not going to be an issue in Seattle.”

Dunbar, now with the Seahawks, remains on pace to earn a salary of $3.25 million in 2020, which is the final year of a three-year contract that he originally signed with the Redskins back in January 2018.
