Seattle Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny is expected to be a game-time decision for the team's Week 16 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Seahawks are still the No. 5 seed in the NFC as of right now, despite suffering a disappointing 26-23 overtime loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 15.

However, there's obviously still plenty to play for during the stretch run of the regular season, so Pete Carroll would love to have his team healthy entering the final few games.

But it sounds like the availability of the former San Diego State star won't be known until the team hits the field due to a knee injury.

From Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times:

Pete Carroll says he expects McDougald, Griffin and Ott to all play Sunday. Fluker, Ifedi, Penny all gameday decisions. Confirms Thompson won't play.

Penny has 81 carries for 413 yards and two touchdowns in his first NFL season while also catching nine passes for 75 yards, but he was forced to miss the game against the Niners due to the injury.

With the Seahawks fully committed to giving plenty of carries to both Chris Carson and Mike Davis, Seattle certainly still has options to work with in the backfield should Penny be sidelined once again.

The matchup against the Chiefs will likely tell us a lot more about where the Seahawks stand as they get closer to a postseason berth.

After this week's game, Carroll's team will return to the field in Week 17 for a home meeting with the Arizona Cardinals.
