Russell Wilson took a lot of beating in the pocket last season. Behind a seemingly flimsy Seattle Seahawks offensive line in 2017, Wilson got sacked 43 times – fourth most in the league.  This time around, though, Wilson has supreme confidence in his protection unit, as he’s been left impressed by the job being done by the offensive line this offseason, per Curtis Crabtree of Pro Football Talk.

Russell Wilson on the OL: “For the first time in a while, in my opinion, really since probably the year we won the Super Bowl, we've had a consistent offensive line in practice and that consistency is huge.”

Even with a porous O-line a season ago, Wilson managed to lead his team with 586 rushing yards to go with three rushing scores. However, he and Seattle’s running backs obviously could have done more if it weren’t for the poor blocking afforded to them by their teammates.

Seattle finished the 2017 season just 23rd in the NFL with only 101.8 rushing yards per game. To further illustrate just how bad the run-blocking for the Seahawks was, the team had the worst stuffed percentage in the league, according to Football Outsiders, as Seattle running backs often found themselves getting smothered before they could even get out of the line of scrimmage.

The Seahawks welcomed back Mike Solaris to reprise the same role he had on the team from 2008 to 2009. Russell Wilson expressed how thrilled he is of having Solaris in the fold to guide the team’s offensive line, which could finally see some significant improvement after years of underwhelming play.
