The NFL may still be in its offseason, but Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is already hard at work in preparation for the upcoming season. And he’s doing it by paying tribute to the late rapper DMX.

In a video posted on his Twitter account, Wilson can be seen hard at work in the gym and throwing passes on a field to the sounds of DMX’s 2003 single “X Gon’ Give It To Ya.” Since DMX’s passing on April 9 at the age of 50, several athletes from across different sports have already paid tribute to the rapper and spoken about his impact, with Wilson being the latest among them.

The intense workout video shows Wilson’s eagerness to put the Seahawks 2020 season behind him, which saw the team finish with a 12-4 record while losing in the Wild Card Round to the Los Angeles Rams. The eight-time Pro Bowler put up another brilliant individual season for Seattle, completing 68.8% of his passes for 4212 passing yards and 40 touchdowns with 13 interceptions.

The 32-year-old’s offseason has also been filled with speculation, which began when he admitted to having frustrations with the Seahawks over a lack of protection and input over the organization’s decision-making. Last season, Wilson was sacked a total of 52 times, including five in their playoff loss to the Rams.

It is unclear if the Seahawks’ moves in the offseason have done anything to change Wilson’s mind. But what is clear is that he is staying prepared for the upcoming season by working in the gym and on the field even in the middle of the offseason.
