With the news of Josh Gordon being reinstated into the NFL Thursday, many prominent figures around the league are in unison of welcoming the Pro-Bowler wideout back into the rankings–one being his Seahawks teammate Russell Wilson. Wilson was delighted at the news of Gordon's return to the field, which won't come until the final two weeks of the season.

Wilson elaborated on his excitement to have Gordon back for the remainder of the season on Thursday:

“He’s an amazing receiver,” Wilson said, according to Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune. “A guy who was great for us last season, made some great plays. … I’m rooting for him to be able to overcome. I hope this time is better than the last time.”

Gordon played a total of five games with the Seattle Seahawks last season before his eventual season-ending suspension that rolled over into the 2020 season. During that time, he totaled 139 yards while catching 7-of-11 targets. He averaged 27.8 yards per reception as well.

The 29-year old was suspended last season following a violation of substance abuse involving performance-enhancing drugs. Gordon has a history of substance abuse, with his latest bout last year reportedly coming during the grievance of his older brother.

Earlier Thursday, Gordon took to Twitter to show his gratitude for being able to play once more:

Gordon's return gives the Seahawks and Wilson an additional option downfield, which could be helpful as Wilson looks to balance the offense out more outside of DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Coming into the last two weeks of the season, Gordon will be available for play against the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers.
