Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is entering the final year of a four-year deal, so, naturally, there has been quite a bit of talk about the Seahawks possibly signing him to a new contract.

During his appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this week, Wilson said that he may end up becoming the richest player in the history of the league:

“There’s a great potential of that,” Wilson said when asked by Fallon if he expects to land the biggest contract ever. “It would be fun.”

Earlier in the offseason, there had been some rumors that the Seahawks could trade Wilson to the New York Giants, with some speculating that both Wilson and his wife, Ciara, preferred New York, but that chatter has since died down.

The 29-year-old is coming off of a spectacular 2018 campaign in which he threw for 3,448 yards, 35 touchdowns and seven interceptions while completing 65.6 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 110.9 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

He doesn't plan on slowing down any time soon, either:

“Being a kid, African-American kid, 5-foot-11, came from Richmond, Virginia, went to a private school, people said I wouldn’t make it in Division I-A,” Wilson said. “Getting to where I am now, Year 7 going into Year 8, I believe I have 10-15 years left.”

Wilson entered the league as a third-round draft pick of Seattle's back in 2012. Since then, he has made five Pro Bowl appearances and has won a Super Bowl title.

The Seahawks won 10 games and lost in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs this past season.
