It goes without saying that the Seattle Seahawks have undergone some major changes this offseason. Even quarterback Russell Wilson could not deny the feeling of nostalgia he has going into training camp.
The Seahawks' moves this NFL offseason has seemingly ushered in a new era for the organization. According to Aaron Levine of Fox Sports, Wilson likened the changes to his rookie season:
This year feels like my rookie year. The feeling is just different. The outside world doesn’t know what we’re looking to do.
While it may not seem like it, Wilson's comments indicate a certain sense of optimism in Seattle. As many know, his selection in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft came with its fair share of scrutiny. However, it did not take long for the rookie to establish himself as the future franchise quarterback of a team on the cusp of becoming a powerhouse.
Wilson led the Seahawks to the playoffs where they were eventually knocked out of the divisional round by the Atlanta Falcons. He also managed to make the Pro Bowl as an alternate as well. Although it is likely that he will be able to replicate his success, the notion of the Seahawks even making the playoffs is a bit far-fetched at this point.
Fortunately, the lack of respect for this former dynasty does not seem to bother the Seahawks' star. Whereas before Seattle was expected to win, they now have the benefit of being overlooked by most of their opponents in the 2018 NFL season.
