Seattle Seahawks quarterback reached out to new guard Damien Lewis after he was selected with the 69th overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft. Lewis said a little while after he was drafted he received a FaceTime call from the franchise quarterback.

“Man, you ready?” Russell Wilson asked Lewis according to Joe Fann of NBC Sports.

Wilson also made it clear to Lewis that the goal was to win a Super Bowl with the Seahawks.

“We’re trying to win the Super Bowl over here,” Wilson shared with Lewis. “We don’t play (around). We’re trying to make it happen this year.”

Lewis said he was excited about getting to work with Wilson. He said the phone call meant a lot to him because it shows just how much of a leader he is.

“He’s a great guy, a great leader,” the new Seahawks talent said. “He gets guys going as a captain. Everything is going to revolve around him. He gets people fired up. I’m ready to meet him in person. I told him, ‘Day 1 I’m coming in to compete, trying to earn a spot. I’m going to give it my all.’”

Lewis strength is run blocking, and with the Seahawks wanting to be a run-first team, he should be a great addition. Seahawks current guard D.J. Fluker is the starter now, but he is entering the final year of his contract. This could be a sign that the team won't be bringing back Fluker after his contract expires. Lewis might not make an impact right away, but next year or the following don't be surprised when he is one of the steals of the draft.
