Seattle Seahawks Russell Wilson has given the team an April 15th deadline to get a deal done on an extension but if a deal doesn't get done, Wilson isn't going to hold out according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

According to Florio, the reason for the deadline is Wilson doesn't want the negotiations to be a distraction for the team during the season. Wilson gave the team the deadline in the middle of January so the two sides have had a lot of time to try and come to an agreement on a deal.

Wilson's contract is up after this season and he has made it clear he wants to stay in Seattle but he also isn't willing to negotiate a new deal during the season. If the two sides can't come to an agreement by April 15th the expectation is that Wilson will stop talk till after the season.

If the two sides can't come to an agreement the team doesn't have a ton of leverage after that except to put the franchise tag on him. If the team were to put a franchise tag on him, it would pay Wilson over $30 million for the 2020 season.

This is a story that really should heat up over the next week and half as April 15th gets closer and closer and more pressure gets put on to get a deal done.
