The Seattle Seahawks have gotten out to another encouraging start through the first half of the season currently boasting one of the top records in the NFC. Russell Wilson might rarely get the credit he deserves, but numbers never lie.

A major part of that continued success has been the play of Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson with both his arm and his legs. According to NFL Research, Wilson accounts for a record-setting portion of his team's offensive production this season.

This has become the case due to their utter lack of a consistent running game this year, as they rank 22nd in the league with 100.7 yards per game. The running back by committee approach of Thomas Rawls, Eddie Lacy, C.J. Prosise has yet to produce a notable performance.

Meanwhile, Wilson has proven to be an efficient runner when he decides to tuck in and take off. He has 290 rushing yards on 51 attempts that put him at 5.7 yards per carry through the first nine games of the season. What has been most encouraged about this situation is that he has been a major factor with his arm while leading the Seahawks to victory on several occasions this season.

Wilson currently ranks third in the league with 2,543 passing yards on a 62.7 percent completion rate. He's also tied for second with 19 touchdown passes to just six interceptions and a 97.4 passer rating. This has him on pace to finish with a career-high 4,521 passing yards while tying his career-best mark with 34 touchdown passes to just 11 interceptions.

All of this makes it clear that if the Seahawks hope to make another serious run at a Super Bowl appearance it will have to behind Wilson leading the way.
