The Seattle Seahawks agreed to a five-year contract extension with Russell Wilson on Monday, ending any speculation about whether or not Wilson would remain with the Seahawks long term.

There had been a lot of chatter about Wilson not really wanting to continue playing in Seattle, with the New York Giants being cited as a potential destination for the star quarterback.

However, Wilson's agent, Mark Rodgers, has made it clear that Wilson has never wanted to play anywhere else.

“Russell loves this town, this team and these fans and part of the compromise involved his affection for all things Seattle,” Rodgers said, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. “The idea of playing anywhere else was not as appealing as playing right here, the place he and his family call home.”

Of course, you wouldn't expect Rodgers to say anything else at this point. He is not just going to come out and say that his client really wanted to play for the Giants but was okay with taking the $140 million from the Seahawks.

Still, none of that matters anymore, because Wilson is going to be in Seattle for the foreseeable future.

The 29-year-old is coming off of what was probably the best season of his career, as he threw for 3,448 yards, 35 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 65.6 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 110.9 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Wilson was originally drafted by the Seahawks back in 2012, and since then, he has earned five Pro Bowl selections while also leading Seattle to a Super Bowl back in the 2013-14 campaign.
