Even as the rumor mill has continued to churn regarding his future, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is not looking to leave the team anytime soon.

Over the offseason, a multitude of rumors and reports noted that Wilson was interested in leaving the Seahawks via a trade. In the end, he stayed put with the team, but this has not halted these rumors.

For one, a recent report mentioned that Wilson would be open to waiving his no-trade clause in order to join either the New Orleans Saints, Denver Broncos or New York Giants. The seven-time Pro Bowler has a full no-trade clause in the four-year contract extension deal that he signed in 2019.

Amid the rampant speculation that he may be playing in his final season with the team, Wilson noted during a press conference ahead of the Seahawks’ upcoming Week 14 matchup with the Houston Texans that this is not the case.

“I’m focused on what we’re doing here,” Wilson said. “Obviously, I love Seattle. This is a place I’ve loved every day, every moment.

“That’s my hope. My hope’s not just to fulfill it. Hopefully, I can play here 20 years and my career. Will that happen? I don’t know. That’s my prayer, that’s my hope. That stuff’s in the future, that stuff’s down the road. I think my mission, my focus is only on right now.”

In the unpredictable world of the NFL, anything sure can happen, but as Wilson touched on, he aspires to fulfill the remaining two years of his current contract deal with Seattle.

For now, Wilson sure will look to guide the Seahawks to a win over the Texans to keep the team’s playoff hopes in the NFC alive.
