The Seattle Seahawks are in the midst of a complete overhaul of their roster this offseason. Fortunately, they have finally started to add some depth to key positions.

Defensive end Barkevious Mingo is coming off yet another relatively disappointing campaign in the 2017 NFL season. However, it seems the Seahawks are still confident in what he brings to the table.

According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Seattle is set to sign Mingo to a two-year, $10.1 million deal:

The Seahawks are signing former Colts pass-rusher Barkevious Mingo, source said. He gets a 2-year deal worth $10.1M.

While it may not be the big splash Seahawks fans were hoping for, Mingo can help solidify a unit that has taken a tremendous hit through trades and injury. The Seahawks recently parted ways with Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Bennett in exchange for a seventh-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Meanwhile, Pro Bowl defensive end Cliff Avril is still recovering from a serious neck injury that ended his season early after just four games.

That said, the deal for Mingo certainly makes plenty of sense. The former LSU Tiger came into the league with high expectations after being taken with the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. Needless to say, he has fallen vastly short of expectations thus far.

Mingo's resume coming into Seattle is hardly impressive after registering 114 tackles and just 9.0 sacks in five seasons. However, he did manage to win Super Bowl LI with the New England Patriots which means he has some degree of championship experience. Regardless, it is clear that the Seahawks have much more work to do on the defensive side of the ball this offseason.
