We're only a few days away from the NFL draft and Jadeveon Clowney is still on the open market. However, despite the fact that the Seattle Seahawks have signed pass rushers Bruce Irvin and Benson Mayowa this offseason, the team is not yet ready to give up on the former No. 1 overall pick per Joe Fann of NBC Sports.

In an attempt to boost a struggling pass rush, the Seahawks traded for Clowney last August in exchange for a 2020 third-round pick, linebacker Jacob Martin and defensive end Barkevious Mingo.

And while Clowney had been named to three Pro Bowls in five seasons with the Houston Texans, the 6-foot-5, 255-pound defensive end's production took a bit of a hit in his first year with the Seahawks.

Clowney made 11 starts in 13 games for the Seahawks and recorded 31 total tackles, seven tackles for a loss and three sacks — all three stats being the lowest since his rookie campaign where he only appeared in four games.

Despite the down year, Clowney has been adamant that he wants to be paid like an elite pass rusher and he has said he wants to be paid in the area of $20 million per season.

Clowney's high price tag is the main reason why the Seahawks have not re-signed the star defensive end.

“He's going to feel his way through this off process,” Seahawks General Manager John Schneider said per Fann.

With the acquisition of Clowney prior to last season, the Seahawks ranked just 29th in the NFL in total sacks (28.0) and 22nd in points allowed per game (24.9).
