Kicker Sebastian Janikowski saw his tenure with the Oakland Raiders come to an end after 18 seasons back in February as a salary cap casualty. It has put him on the open market for the first time in his NFL career with the ability to choose to play elsewhere.

In the months that have followed, there hadn't been much talk about teams interested in his services for the 2018 season. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Seattle Seahawks have lined up a visit with the 40-year-old on Tuesday.

The Seahawks are looking to replace Blair Walsh despite signing Jason Myers back in January. However, head coach Pete Carroll has voiced that the team is looking add another kicker to the mix to create competition at the position ahead of the 2018 campaign.

Janikowski is currently the Raiders' all-time leader in points scored, made field goals, made field goals, made 50-yard field goals, and field goals attempted. The team had elected to go with Giorgio Tavecchio in his place after he wasn't able to play in any game in the 2017 season due to a back injury that put him on the injured reserve on Sept. 9. This comes after he agreed to take a pay cut prior to the start of the regular season to remain with the team.

The addition of Janikowski would potentially give the Seahawks a proven kicker that still has a strong leg when healthy. In the 2016 season, he was still a more than serviceable kicker nailing 29 of his 37 attempts while making 37 of his 39 extra point tries. This includes nailing 10 out of 11 field goals from between 40 to 49 yards out along with nailing a season-long of a 56-yards. Although he is in his 40s, kickers' shelf life often times goes well beyond the 40s that could mean he may be able to be an option for more than just the 2018 season.
