Seattle Seahawks cornerback Shaquill Griffin is headed to Orlando next weekend to compete in the 2020 NFL Pro Bowl. The 24-year-old Central Florida product earned a nod to the NFL's all-star festivities, per Griffin's agent.

The third-year cornerback, selected in the third round of the 2017 draft by the Seahawks, recorded 45 solo tackles and 13 deflections in his 2019 campaign, although Seattle fell short in their 2019-2020 goals, losing to the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the postseason last week.

According to Andy Patton of Seahawks Wire, Griffin's selection was one of seven possible Seahawks alternates for the honorary.

Griffin was one of seven Pro Bowl alternates the Seahawks had, a list that includes wide receiver Tyler Lockett, tackle Duane Brown, running back Chris Carson, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, safety Quandre Diggs and guard Mike Iupati.

Suffice to say the new generation of “Legion of Boom” in the Seahawks' defense is alive and well, with Griffin representing Seattle alongside starters star quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Bobby Wagner.

The Pro Bowl, in Orlando this year, will take place one week before Super Bowl LIV featuring the AFC's Kansas City Chiefs and the NFC's San Francisco 49ers (the Niners fended off against the Packers, who beat the Seahawks the week prior).

No doubt Shaquill Griffin is feeling proud for himself following 2018's “average” season, which he called in July 2019.

“Last year was an average year,” Griffin said during organized team activities. “Being the No. 1 corner, I can’t have average years.”

While the Seahawks won't extend their 2019 season to another Super Bowl berth, they'll get to see Shaquill Griffin, among other players, in late-January.
