During the Legion of Boom era, the Seattle Seahawks locker room was notoriously close-knit, and many of the players often joked around and were highly competitive. With their practices and get-togethers often the stuff of stories, there’s bound to be some love still lingering, and judging by Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett’s latest comments, that seems to be the case.

Things started with San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman taking to social media (via 247 Sports) to give his opinion on a clip of a high school football cornerback and receiver partaking in a physical drill. Sherman critiqued the video by noting that there’s a ton of “awful CB play” in the high school world, and that the schools should just give players more space.

This is where Lockett comes in. After seeing the tweet, the Seahawks wide receiver quoted the message and jokingly said that Sherman used to guard him in the exact same way. According to Lockett, the tough pressure from Sherman was crucial in helping him get around longer cornerbacks. While this might seem like more of a compliment to Sherman, the joke is that Sherman was unable to guard Lockett without committing some serious penalties.

Of course, Sherman had to fire back, taking to Twitter once again and joking that he didn’t need to be so physical guarding Lockett, noting it was “simpler” than that. As one can see, the joking nature of the former teammates hasn’t gone away, even if the two play on division rivals now.
