Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has gotten off to an MVP start to the 2020 NFL season. Of course, a part of his success can be attributed to Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf emerging into one of the most talented receiving duos in the league.

Both wideouts are coming off 100-yard receiving performances against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3. Lockett feels that while opposing defenses can hope to contain one of them, there is no way to account for Wilson's other option in the passing game:

“I think a lot of teams [last year] were going to see what he could do first,” Lockett said, via Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. “Now that everybody was able to see what he could do, I think the second season he’s already showing, like, ‘Y’all better pick your poison. Like do whatever you want to do — if you’re going to try to stop both of us it’s still not going to work. If you’re going to try to stop one of us the other is going to ball out.'”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Lockett's comments, which is why teams are often seeking out a complementary option to take the pressure off the No. 1 receiver in the passing game. Fortunately, the Seahawks have the luxury of both players being able to alternate between roles.

Although Seattle has long been regarded as a run-heavy offense, that seems to have changed with the aerial assault led by Wilson. The result is him now having two wideouts on track to break 1,000 receiving yards by the end of the season.

Lockett is currently tied for fourth in receptions with 24 while racking up 259 yards and four touchdowns in the process. Metcalf has 12 receptions for 297 yards and three touchdowns while also establishing himself as the NFL's premier deep threat. He's second in yards per reception with 24.8.
