The Seattle Seahawks have been impressive on offense in the first three weeks of the NFL season. They are averaging 37 points an outing, second best in the league behind the Green Bay Packers.

As for their defense, well, what’s the opposite of impressive?

The Seahawks have found themselves on the wrong pages of the record books after allowing 1,291 passing yards in their first three assignments. According to Pro Football Reference, that’s the most by any team since 1950. They are also the only team in NFL history with over 1,200 yards allowed in that span of games.

The Seahawks allowed 434 yards to the Atlanta Falcons, 397 yards to the New England Patriots, and 461 yards to the Dallas Cowboys.

Some players are getting concerned according to a story by Curtis Crabtree of NBC Sports.

“It’s not something I am accustomed to. It is not something I want to be accustomed to,” said linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Fortunately for them, their high-powered offense has been their saving grace. Despite their anemic defense, the Seahawks are still undefeated in three games, with Russell Wilson setting records—but this time, the good kind.

He already has 14 touchdown passes, which is the most in NFL history through three games. The 31-year-old star is also the first quarterback ever to have at least four TD passes in that same duration.

Still, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll isn’t too happy with their performances.

“We have a lot of work to do on our pass defense. It continues to be a problem. The third down thing is not good enough. We have to finish our sacks, again.”

The Seahawks will try to improve on their defense in Week 4 on the road against the Miami Dolphins.
