The Seattle Seahawks have released receiver Paul Richardson, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

This move doesn't as ultimately surprising, as Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll hinted that'll he'll be released couple of days ago.

“It’s been tough for Paul,” Seahawks told ESPN’s Brady Henderson. “He just hasn’t had a chance yet … It’s very difficult for Paul to show where he is … We do know him really well and we love the kid and the way he plays and all that. It just wasn’t much of a ramp for him to show where he is, unfortunately.”

Richardson, 28. signed with the Seahawks on Aug. 29, and even told KOMO News that he is “back where I belong.”  However, after the Seahawks signed receiver Josh Gordon, it became expected that he'll be released.

Richardson spent the first four seasons of his career with the Seahawks before signing a deal with Washington in 2018. This past season with Washington, Richardson recorded 28 receptions for 245 yards in 10 games. However, shortly after the season ended, Washington released him.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider will continue to have cut players as the day goes on. The Seahawks must trim the 80-man roster down to 53 players by Saturday.

Nevertheless, as for Richardson, it's unclear whether he'll be signed by another team before the season starts. Throughout his firsts stint with the Seahawks, he has proven that he can be a reliable receiver. In 47 games with Seattle from 2014-17, Richardson caught 95 passes for 1,302 yards and eight touchdowns. Richardson is only 28 years old, and if he remains healthy, he should be picked up before the season starts.
