The Seattle Seahawks moved quickly to bring in former offensive lineman J.R. Sweezy for a meeting and a physical shortly after his release from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean a deal will be struck just as quickly by the two sides.

According to Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, there actually isn’t a sense of urgency on either side to get a deal done anytime soon as they wait and see what other options are on the table.

J.R. Sweezy visited Seahawks but a decision one way or the other may not be imminent. Sweezy won't get close to the kind of contract he had been playing on with TB from Seahawks and could wait to see what else might develop. No need for either side to rush at this point.

Sweezy was cut two years into a $32.5 million deal by the Bucs and was due $6.5 million this season. But after suffering two significant injuries in two years-including a back injury which cost him the entire 2016 season-the Bucs were wary of trusting Sweezy to stay healthy given that big salary.

Sweezy will likely be looking for something much closer to that $6.5 million salary in his upcoming salary. But the fact that he left Seattle without a deal indicates that perhaps the Seahawks didn’t get close enough to that number for his liking.

Nevertheless, Sweezy still has time until the start of training camp at the end of the month to shop for a better deal. And if not, the Seahawks should still be willing to bring him in given their previous relationship.
