Russell Wilson's future with the Seattle Seahawks has been a topic of discussion this offseason, with some believing it is nothing to be concerned about. On the contrary, The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar, Mike Sando, and Jayson Jenks highlighted why Wilson's future in Seattle could be in doubt in a long piece showing how the relationship between the star quarterback and the franchise has frayed.

In fact, Wilson's camp has even talked potential trade destinations with the Seahawks, including the Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders.

While watching Tom Brady prepare for his 10th Super Bowl, Wilson made headlines when he publically called out the Seahawks for the lack of protection they've given him. He also told Dan Patrick on “The Dan Patrick Show” that he would love to be more involved in the organizational decisions.

In The Athletic's detailed article of Russell Wilson's roller-coaster 2020 season, there was reportedly a moment ahead of Seattle's Week 11 showdown with the Arizona Cardinals where Wilson attempted to share what he thought could fix the struggles of the offense. His ideas were essentially ignored by Pete Carroll and the Seahawks, causing Wilson to storm out of the room.

Wilson's frustration with the Seahawks has reportedly been growing for years now. An interest in Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen in back-to-back drafts didn't help matters, and he heard rumors about possibly being involved in a trade for the No. 1 pick in 2018. Contentious contract negotiations followed, though Wilson ultimately signed a historic contract extension.

However, Russell Wilson continued to have issues with how Carroll operated his offense. Wilson has wanted more control of the offense for years and to have the ability to cook more often, but Carroll seems focused on creating an offense that is more run-oriented, similar to the ones that helped him make two Super Bowls earlier this decade.

Wilson's future in Seattle is certainly uncertain right now, with both sides at odds with what the future of the offense should be:

Asked if Wilson will be the Seahawks’ quarterback in 2021, a source close to the quarterback answered with just two words.

“Good question …”

Without Russell Wilson leading this roster, the Seahawks would see a massive decline on offense moving forward. But an offense without Wilson under center now seems to be a legitimate outcome in this saga between the Pro Bowl quarterback and Seattle's brass.
