After playing his last five seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, star defensive end Michael Bennett is reportedly going to be included in upcoming trade talks this offseason.

According to an article written on Thursday by Seahawks beat reporter Brady Henderson of ESPN, if Seattle does move the 32-year-old Bennett, who is under contract through the 2020 season, it will probably happen before March 18 when the defensive end is owed a $3 million roster bonus from the team.

“Bennett is set to count almost $7.4 million against Seattle's salary cap next season. By trading or releasing him before June 1, the Seahawks would save roughly $2.2 million against the 2018 salary cap while incurring around $5.2 million in dead money charges.” Henderson said.

Immediately after the Seahawks' 26-24 loss to the Arizona Cardinals at CenturyLink Field in Week 17, the three-time Pro Bowl defensive end recently told Gregg Bell of The News Tribune that he had his doubts on whether he'd be back in Seattle for the 2018-19 season.

“I probably won't be back next year,” Bennett said. “Just seems like it's a young man's game. I can see them going younger, with younger players. That's part of the game.”

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said on Thursday at the NFL Scouting Combine that he had not spoken recently at all with Bennett but intends for them to speak soon.

“I haven't talked to Mike in a while now, but it's the time of year, conversations going in all directions,” coach Carroll said.

In five seasons with the Seahawks, Bennett has racked up 39 total sacks during the regular season and has forced four fumbles. This past season, Bennett made 40 tackles on defense and was second on the team in sacks with 8.5 in the 2017-18 campaign.
