There are many things teams need to do well to win in today’s NFL. Being able to pass the ball is high on the list. But you could almost say defending against the pass is just as high. According to the rumor mill, one of the best defensive backs in the NFL could be had via trade— for the right price.

CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora said in a recent article that “The Seahawks entertained trade offers for Richard Sherman a year ago and certainly would do so again – though his injury situation clouds things.”

That’s about as logical as it comes. With the turnover in the coaching staff, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Seahawks were to start looking ahead a little. While they do have one of the best quarterbacks in Russell Wilson, their offensive line is terrible, they have no run game, and the defense is an injury-riddled shell of what it once was.

They had a nice five-year run of making the playoffs and even two Super Bowls. Maybe it’s time to reload before things go too far downhill. That way it will not take as much time to rebuild. Sherman will be coming off a serious injury and is not young anymore (29). But he could still fetch a nice haul from a team desperate to fix its secondary.

If they keep him, he could be an on-field tutor for the next edition of the Legion of Boom. That alone could be worth his $13.2 million salary next season. But if they couldn’t get any buyers last offseason, what are the chances they will this offseason?
