The Seattle Seahawks are in the midst of a complete overhaul thus far in the offseason. Among the notable names to depart from Seattle was defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson, who chose to sign with the Minnesota Vikings.

As result, it seems they were looking to get something in return for Richardson. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Seahawks have sign defensive tackle Tom Johnson to a one-year, $2.7 million deal:

Former Vikings DT Tom Johnson and the #Seahawks have agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth up to $2.7 million, source said. So Sheldon Richardson heads to Minnesota, and Johnson is set to join Richardson’s old team in Seattle.

Richardson's departure struck another blow to a defensive unit that has been decimated with trades and injuries. The fact that Seattle had given up wide receiver Jermaine Kearse and a 2018 second-round pick for Richardson prior to the 2017 NFL season just added salt to the wound.

Fortunately, they managed to somewhat fill the void up front with the signing of Johnson. While he may not be a household name like Richardson, he is as solid an interior defender as there is in the league. Following a stint with the New Orleans Saints, the veteran signed with the Vikings prior to the 2014 NFL season. He has since enjoyed tremendous success along the line and even served as the anchor of a Minnesota Vikings defense that established itself early on as one of the league's most formidable units last year.

Perhaps even more importantly, the Seahawks have added some more depth to help keep them afloat as they continue to restructure the roster with one-year deals.
